Sports and Recreational Program Slovenia in Motion – Free recreational tennis sessions for children and parents.

Športno rekreativni program Slovenija v gibanju – Brezplačne rekreativne vadbe tenisa za otroke in starše

From February 26, 2024, to September 29, 2024, we organized free sports and recreational sessions for children and their parents as part of the Slovenia in Motion program. The sessions took place twice a week, on Mondays and Sundays, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The events were regularly attended by 25 participants, primarily children aged 5 to 7 years, who participated in the sessions alongside their parents.

The Slovenia in Motion program is a national initiative that promotes physical activity by organizing free guided workouts and sports events for all age groups. The program is designed to include everyone, regardless of age, gender, or physical fitness, and focuses on promoting healthy habits and intergenerational connections. By organizing sessions for children and parents, we have been able to achieve the key goals of the program in the local community, as we inspired participants to engage in regular physical activity and provided them with enjoyable social interactions through sports.

The sessions focused on teaching basic tennis techniques to adults, while for children, they emphasized learning the fundamental tennis strokes, developing a feel for the racket and the ball, and also enhancing basic motor skills in a fun environment filled with challenges that open the door for children to engage in various sports disciplines.

The sessions were led by experienced coach Uroš Tanko, who successfully adapted the activities to different age groups, ensuring that children and parents enjoyed participating in sports together. A special emphasis was placed on teaching the youngest participants basic sports skills through play while also allowing parents to actively spend their free time with their children.

Participants expressed great satisfaction with the implemented program, as the activities encouraged children to engage in more physical activity and strengthened the bond between parents and children. Several parents expressed interest in continuing the sessions, which indicates the positive impact of the program on participants and the local community.

We thank all participants for their active involvement and invite them to upcoming sports events within the Slovenia in Motion program, which we will continue to organize in the future.
